A Group Of People Wearing Colorful Hats

Saturday, May 23, 2026 May 23, 2026 Stanford Court

Prepare for a kaleidoscope of color and sound as Carnaval San Francisco returns for its 48th anniversary. Taking place over Memorial Day weekend, this year’s theme, "La Copa del Pueblo" (The People’s Cup), honors the unifying spirit of fútbol (soccer) and its deep roots in Latin American and Indigenous cultures.

Festival Highlights (Harrison Street):

  • A Global Village: Spanning 17 blocks from 16th to 24th Streets, the festival features over 400 vendors, 50 local performing artists, and five main stages.
  • Rhythms of the Diaspora: Dance to everything from samba and salsa to soca, cumbia, and reggae. Catch headliners like Los Rakas bringing their pioneering "Pan-American flow" to the 22nd Street stage.
  • The Pavilions: Explore five dedicated pavilions offering international cuisine, community art workshops, and a new tech/gaming area.

The Grand Parade (Sunday): The weekend culminates in a brilliant 20-block procession through the historic Latino Cultural District.

  • The Route: Begins at 24th and Bryant Streets, proceeds west to Mission Street, then heads north to 15th Street.
  • The Spectacle: Over 5,500 artists and 60 contingents (comparsas) showcase elaborately decorated floats and traditional costumes representing the heritages of Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Trinidad, and more.
  • Grandstand Experience: For the best views of the judging area, secure tickets for the Grandstand seating located in front of the Gray Area / Grand Theater.
