A Group Of People In Santa Clothing On A Street Corner

Monday, December 14, 2026 December 14, 2026 Stanford Court

SantaCon is a non-denominational, non-commercial, and non-political holiday spectacle that transforms San Francisco into a North Pole takeover. Part costume parade and part social gathering, this event is famous for its "Santa's Rules," which encourage participants to be merry, helpful to locals, and respectful of the city while in uniform.

Event Highlights:

  • The Union Square Convergence: Thousands of Santas, Elves, and Reindeer gather at noon for the official group photo and caroling session around the Union Square Christmas Tree.
  • The Santa Crawl: Following the gathering, the "Sleighs" (groups of Santas) disperse to popular nightlife hubs including North Beach Click to open side panel for more information , Polk Street, and the Marina District.
  • Toy Drive: True to the spirit of the season, the event partners with the SF Firefighters Toy Program. Santas are asked to bring a toy to donate at the fire truck stationed near the square.
  • Creative Costumes: While the traditional red suit is standard, expect to see "Summer Santa," "Steam-Punk Santa," and plenty of Grinches and festive unicorns.
