Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival
From Saturday, April 11, 2026 to Sunday, April 12, 2026 April 11, 2026 April 12, 2026 Stanford Court
Celebrate the beauty of the sakura at the 59th Annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival. Held over two weekends in April, this dazzling display of culture transforms San Francisco's Japantown into a vibrant hub of food, art, and community.
This year’s festival holds special significance as it commemorates the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In a poignant tribute, the Community Marshal will honor the Hibakusha (survivors of the bombings) and their descendants, recognizing their resilience and message of peace.
Festival Highlights:
- Cultural Village: Explore interactive lessons in bonsai and doll-making, traditional tea ceremonies, and elegant Japanese dance performances.
- Live Entertainment: Five neighborhood venues host everything from high-energy taiko drumming to modern J-Pop and martial arts demonstrations.
- The Grand Parade: On the final Sunday, April 19, watch a colorful procession of floats, dancers, and musicians travel from City Hall to the heart of Japantown.
- Food & Crafts: Visit the cultural food area for authentic Japanese delicacies and browse the artisan market for unique handmade crafts.
- Community Spirit: Don't miss the unique "pet-owner meet-ups" and special spiritual ceremonies that reflect the deep-rooted traditions of the community.
