Hardly Strictly Bluegrass
From Friday, October 2, 2026 to Sunday, October 4, 2026 October 2, 2026 October 4, 2026 Stanford Court
Founded by the late venture capitalist and banjo player Warren Hellman, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (HSB) remains one of the largest and most beloved free music festivals in the world. Eschewing corporate sponsorships and VIP tents, the festival maintains a pure "music-first" atmosphere, drawing over 500,000 attendees annually across its 20-plus-year history.
Festival Highlights:
- Diverse Lineup: True to its name, the festival features everything from traditional bluegrass and Americana to punk rock, soul, and legendary singer-songwriters.
- Iconic Stages: Six stages—including the Banjo Stage, Rooster Stage, and Towers of Gold—are tucked into the park’s western meadows, offering a range of settings from high-energy crowds to intimate hillside listening.
- The "Porch" Vibe: HSB is famous for its relaxed, picnic-style environment. Fans are encouraged to bring blankets, low-back chairs, and their own food to enjoy a day of music under the cypress trees.
- Traditional Closers: The festival traditionally features recurring legends, often closing out the weekend with a Sunday sunset set by the "Godmother of Americana," Emmylou Harris.
- Strictly No-Corporate: You won't find brand activations or massive logos here; the festival is funded by a trust to ensure it remains a free, community-focused gift for generations to come.
