A Crowd Of People Walking Down A Street With A Large Dragon Statue

Saturday, March 7, 2026 March 7, 2026 Stanford Court

Witness history in motion at the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade, a city tradition dating back to 1851. Celebrating the Year of the Horse, this illuminated night parade features over 100 units, including elaborate floats, traditional lion dancers, marching bands, and the thunderous roar of over 600,000 firecrackers. The crown jewel of the evening is "Gum Lung," a showstopping 288-foot-long Golden Dragon puppeteered by a team of 180 performers. The festivities extend across the entire weekend with the Chinatown Community Street Fair. Spanning Washington, Jackson, Pacific, and Grant Avenues, the fair hosts over 120 booths where you can:

Shop Artisan Goods: Browse rare artisan products and festive Lunar New Year decorations.

Enjoy Cultural Arts: Watch live Chinese folk dancing, opera, and drumming on the entertainment stage.

Capture Memories: Snap photos with giant puppets and parade artifacts on display.

The parade is free to watch along the 1.3-mile route, though bleacher tickets are recommended for the best view. The Street Fair is free and open to all, providing a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere all weekend long.
