Founded in 1973, the Nihonmachi Street Fair was created to provide a platform for young Asian Americans to honor their heritage and give back to the community. Today, it stands as one of the most diverse and welcoming cultural festivals in San Francisco, drawing thousands to the heart of J-Town for a weekend of music, dance, and advocacy.
Festival Highlights:
- Clearview Stage: Enjoy non-stop live entertainment at the Peace Plaza, featuring Taiko drumming, Hawaiian hula, traditional Japanese dance, and contemporary AANHPI musicians.
- Artisans’ Alley: Browse unique handmade crafts, jewelry, and apparel from local Asian American artists and designers.
- Asian Car Show: Check out a curated display of custom imports and classic cars that celebrate the intersection of automotive culture and community.
- Doggie World: A fan-favorite highlight! Bring your pups for a dedicated pet area featuring a doggie costume parade, pet adoption resources, and specialized vendors.
- Food & Community: Savor traditional Japantown treats and explore the Community Services Row, where local non-profits share resources and highlight social issues impacting the AANHPI community.
