50th Annual San Francisco Free Folk Festival
Saturday, July 11, 2026 July 11, 2026 Stanford Court
The San Francisco Free Folk Festival is a unique, community-run celebration where everyone is invited to be a part of the music. For its milestone 50th edition in 2026, the festival returns to the Music Concourse, transforming the park into a vibrant hub of folk tradition and grassroots creativity.
Unlike typical concerts, this festival emphasizes participation. Whether you are a seasoned musician or have never picked up an instrument, there is a place for you in the circle.
Festival Highlights:
- Bandshell Performances: Catch continuous live sets at the Spreckels Temple of Music (the Bandshell), featuring local folk, blues, bluegrass, and world music acts co-sponsored by Illuminate.
- Workshops & Lessons: Dive into over 20 interactive sessions ranging from vocal harmonies and songwriting to instrumental lessons for banjo, fiddle, and ukulele.
- Community Jams: Bring your instrument! Designated "jam zones" allow for spontaneous sessions where all skill levels are welcome to play along.
- Storytelling & Dance: Enjoy dedicated areas for traditional storytelling and participatory folk dancing, including family-friendly circles.
- Folk Marketplace: Browse local artisans, instrument makers, and non-profit organizations at the festival marketplace.
