Flower Bulb Day
Saturday, March 21, 2026 March 21, 2026 Stanford Court
Spring officially arrives in San Francisco with the return of Flower Bulb Day. On Saturday, March 21, Union Square will be blanketed in a vibrant sea of more than 80,000 tulips, and the best part is that they are all for you!
Presented by Royal Anthos and the Union Square Alliance, this event brings a touch of Dutch tradition to the Bay Area. The public is invited to enter the meticulously designed garden to pick their own bouquet to take home, free of charge.
Tips for Your Visit:
- Pick Your Limit: To ensure as many people as possible can enjoy the garden, there is a limit of 6 tulips per person.
- Arrive Early: This is one of the city's most popular "wholesome" events. While picking officially begins at 1:00 PM, lines typically start forming as early as 9:00 AM.
- Go Green: Given the massive crowds (upwards of 40,000 people!), organizers strongly recommend using public transportation to reach the Powell Street area.
- Flower Care: To keep your tulips fresh, cut the stems at an angle and place them in cool water away from direct sunlight or fresh fruit.
