5 SF Food Festivals We’re Excited About

San Francisco is a foodie’s paradise. It’s also a paradise for wine lovers, chocolate lovers, craft brew enthusiasts, and others. The city has always pushed the envelope when it comes to food – just look at the Impossible Burger or the area’s famous fleet of food trucks. In the Bay Area, we have a knack for relishing the finer things in life (and we think you should too).

If there’s one thing SF knows how to do, it’s celebrate food and drink. Here are 5 upcoming food festivals in 2018 we’re excited about.

1. Outside Lands

Aside from three days of unbeatable music, Outside Lands features a mean carte du jour of comida. The fest features foodfare from James Beard award-winning chefs, regional wines, craft brews (check out what Seven Stills is pouring in the beer tent!) and more. No one would blame you for coming first for the food and second for the jams, as the fest celebrates the creative and plentiful variety offered by local chefs. Aug. 10-12. $149.50 – $795. Golden Gate Park. See our Outside Lands offer to save big on your booking!

2. Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival

Domenico Ghirardelli opened shop in San Francisco in 1850; his chocolates have been a part of the city ever since. We suggest you make a day of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival, which is set up in right near Crissy Field and features views of the Bay. Held in no other but Ghirardelli Square, guests can treat themselves to live culinary demonstrations, hang out in the chocolate lounge and sample chocolate in all its forms. Partake in the Earthquake Ice Cream Sundae challenge for a bit of brain freeze. All proceeds go to Project Open Hand, providing food for the elderly and ill. Sept. 8-9, noon to 5 pm. $26.25 – $55. Ghirardelli Square, 900 North Point St.

3. Eat Drink SF

This food fest is the most anticipated in San Francisco. Celebrating local food, wine and spirits, tickets include everything except merchandise. Taste spirits, wines and brews from over 70 distilleries/wineries/breweries, enjoy food from over 36 leading Bay Area restaurants, and bask in the glory of local culinary ingeniousness. What are you waiting for? Eat, drink and be merry at Eat Drink SF. Aug. 24-26. $129 – $229. Festival Pavilion, Fort Mason.

4. SF Street Food Festival

The San Francisco Street Food Festival is an accessible food fest that showcases the creative culinary makings of low-income food entrepreneurs. Because the event is so tasty and inclusive ($6 entry), lines can be long. If you plan to attend, arrive early before all the good stuff runs out! Expect lines. Oct. 13, 11-7 pm. $6 advanced ticket purchase only. Power Station at 420 23rd St., Dogpatch.

5. Cheesemaker Celebration

Cheese is worth celebrating, don’t you think? Join California artisan cheesemakers in tasting all the goods they have to offer, from bleu varietals to smoky goudas. Enjoy cheese with charcuterie, beer, cider, wine, and a jazz quartet, Sept. 15, 6-9 pm. $74. 50 – $84. Social Hall San Francisco, 1270 Sutter St.
