Must-see Speakers at Oracle OpenWorld 2017


Oracle OpenWorld 2017 is here, and it’s happening less than a mile from SCH. For the past 20 years, Oracle OpenWorld has brought together cloud computing pioneers to explore the latest industry trends and innovations. The conference features more than 2,500 educational breakout sessions where you can hear about cloud breakthroughs firsthand. And the exhibition floor has hundreds of industry-leading companies offering demonstrations of their latest technologies.

Oracle OpenWorld 2017 is happening October 1–5, 2017 at Moscone Center, and if you can’t make it to San Francisco, you can watch the keynotes online. Here are some of the prominent speakers you can expect to hear from.

Debbie Sterling — CEO of GoldieBlox

Sterling is an engineer, entrepreneur, and one of the leaders in the movement to get girls interested in science, technology, engineering, and math. She leads GoldieBlox, an award-winning company that creates toys, games, and media for girls. In 2015 she was honored by the National Women’s History Museum with a Living Legacy award for her work to empower girls around the world.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt — Actor and Director

You likely know Gordon-Levitt’s from his roles in 3rd Rock From The Sun, Inception, 500 Days Of Summer, and Snowden. What you may not know is that he founded and directs HITRECORD, an online community that has evolved into an award-winning production company.

Becky Sage — CEO & Co-Founder, Interactive Scientific

Sage has led Interactive Scientific as the company developed Nano Simbox, an immersive digital tool that is changing the face of science education and science research. Their mission is to develop a more diverse workforce with the scientific skills, confidence, and intuition to build a healthy, sustainable future.

Richard Haass — President, Council on Foreign Relations

Haass is in his fourteenth year as president of the Council on Foreign Relations, an independent, nonpartisan membership organization, think tank, publisher, and educational institution dedicated to being a resource to help people better understand the world and the foreign policy choices facing the United States and other countries.

Safra A. Catz — Chief Executive Officer, Oracle

Catz previously served as president of Oracle and has also served as the company’s chief financial officer. She first served as Oracle’s chief financial officer from 2005 to 2008, as executive vice president from 1999 to 2004, and as senior vice president in 1999. She served on the board of directors for HSBC Holdings, one of the world's largest banking and financial services organizations, from 2008 through 2015.

Simon Fanshawe OBE — Co-Founder & Partner, Diversity by Design

Diversity by Design works with organizations to develop diversity solutions in order to build greater performance. Fanshawe was chairman of the University of Sussex governing council from 2007 to 2013, and he is currently on the boards of Brighton Dome and Festival, Housing, and Care 21. He is also a trustee of the Museum of London.
