Fall Concerts We Love
Holiday light shows, theater and art installations seem to be at their most vibrant toward the end of the year in SF. We recommend you enjoy the city like a local and take advantage of all the dynamic performances that come through. Here we’ve compiled the concerts we’re most looking forward to this fall.
Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, White Denim @ The Fillmore
Tenor-saxophonist Karl Denson just finished the No Filter tour with The Rolling Stones in Europe, and now he is putting on a few shows of his own music project, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. Denson has played with Lenny Kravitz and My Morning Jacket, to name a few. Along with Denson is White Denim, a rock band from Austin, TX, known for their catchy tunes and prog-rock influences. Show is Nov. 25 at The Fillmore.
Bill Murray, Jan Vogler & Friends @ The Masonic
It’s not every day you’ll see a world-class comedian, violinist and actor on the stage performing chamber music and literary readings. As part of the New Worlds program of showcasing American values in literature and music, join this group of friends on Dec. 8 to see their last show of the year in an entertaining, quirky evening. Info here.
A John Waters Christmas @ the Great American Music Hall
For all you twisted, John Waters fans, you know this Christmas show will be one for the books. Waters performs his 1-man show with monologues on themes of holiday horror, a Santa obsession, and terrifying gift ideas. Not for the weak of heart. Nov. 28.
GLIDE Annual Holiday Jam @ The Masonic
This is a good one for the holidays. GLIDE has deep roots in the Bay Area community, providing meals for the hungry as early as the 1960s. Grammy award-winning singer Valerie Simpson is set to perform, and the evening will have food and drink provided by some Bay Area local restaurants. All money raised from the event goes to GLIDE’s Daily Free Meals program and other services. Show is set for Nov. 29.
