Union Square Holiday Ice Rink

'Tis the season for all things holiday-related and in San Francisco this means the annual Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square is opening! This holiday tradition for the entire family opens November 2, 2022, and runs through the middle of January 2023. Here are answers to all of your questions about this San Francisco winter attraction. 

What are the hours of the Union Square Ice Rink?
The Union Square Ice Rink is open daily from 10:00AM - 11:00PM

NOTE: 60 minute sessions start every 90 minutes with 30 minute breaks for ice maintenance.

How much are Union Square Ice Rink tickets?
General Admission including skate rental - $20
Children 8 and under including skate rental - $15
(they also offer lockers, skate helpers, gloves, and socks for rent)

What if it rains on the day of my tickets for the Union Square Ice Rink?
The Union Square Ice Rink stays open in light rain but may close for heavy and sustained rain. Rain checks may be issued upon request.

What should I wear when I visit the Union Square Ice Rink?
Every San Franciscan will tell you that no matter what you do in the city, wear layers. And this is good advice for skating as well. Gloves and hats might be a good idea as well.

How far is the Union Square Ice Rink from Stanford Court?
As with most attractions, Stanford Court is just a few blocks away. In this case, you'll head south, down Powell Street for just four blocks to get to Union Square.
